Job Hours: Full Time - Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess an AS, BS or MS degree in nutrition or dietetics from an accredited college or university; be a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; be a Registered Dietitian (RD) or (DTR) in good standing or examination-eligible; be licensed by the state of practice; possess basic keyboarding and computer skills; have legible handwriting; be familiar with regulatory requirements; possess good interpersonal and supervisory skills; be of good physical and mental health

DUTIES:

  1. Completes initial nutritional assessments, quarterly assessments, and other dietary documentation per White Oak management, Inc., policies and procedures and federal and state guidelines; liaisons with the White Oak management, Inc. corporate dietitian and other staff members as needed to formulate optimal nutritional care plans
  2. Maintains frequent contact with residents, staff, and residents' responsible parties to facilitate optimal nutritional status of all residents
  3. Participates and provides representation on facility committees, including but not limited to resident care plan meetings, wounds and weights meetings, morning stand-up meetings, Medicare meetings, safety meetings, infection control meetings, resident council meetings, and utilization review meetings
  4. Provides or assures in-services related to nutritional care are provided to all dietary and facility-wide staff on a routine as well as as-needed basis; assures maintenance of written records including an outline of subject matter presented and an attendance sign-in sheet
  5. Serves as a liaison with and communicates with the White Oak Management, Inc., corporate dietary consultant in formulating policies and procedures, menu formation, and food service quality assurance

What you will do in this role: 
Dietitian needed to join MBSAQIP Accredited Bariatric Program. Dietitian will be part of an office-based bariatric practice. Bariatric dietitian is a registered dietitian specializing in providing medical nutrition therapy and counseling to individuals undergoing or recovering from bariatric surgery, focusing on developing personalized nutrition plans to optimize weight loss, manage post-surgical complications, and promote long-term healthy eating habits while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including surgeons, nurses, and other specialists.

Pre-surgical assessment: Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments of potential bariatric surgery patients, evaluating dietary habits, nutritional deficiencies, and readiness for surgery.

Nutrition education:  Post-operative meal planning.

Post-surgical nutrition counseling: develop and implement individualized post-surgical nutrition plans tailored to the specific type of bariatric surgery.

Vitamin and mineral supplementation: Monitor and advise patients on appropriate vitamin and mineral supplementation needs post-surgery to prevent deficiencies.

Behavioral modification: Incorporate behavior change strategies to support healthy eating habits and long-term weight management.

Collaboration with healthcare team: Work closely with surgeons, nurses, psychologists, and other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care and address any concerns related to nutrition.

What Qualifications you will need: 

  • Must read understand and adhere to all Physician Services policies and procedures  
  • Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Value Statement  
  • One to two years of related experience or training. Age-specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise is preferred but not required.

Job Summary

The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for the nutrition care of all clients in all assigned settings. Responsible for overseeing oral, enteral and parenteral nutrition support for assigned population. Screens, assesses, educates, monitors, and evaluates assigned population according to established practice guidelines and Nutrition Services policies. Collaborates and coordinates patient care with members of the health care team. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate for the patient population served. Design and implement nutrition strategies that promote life-long health and minimize health and disease related risk factors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Required Certifications/Licensure: Registered (through examination administered) by the Commission of Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association; Current license to practice dietetics from the state of South Carolina (Please note: Registry eligible candidates may be considered with the following provisions: Must provide documentation from Commission of Dietetic Registration of eligibility status, and must complete registration exam and obtain a license to practice dietetics in South Carolina within 6 months of start date as a condition of continued employment).
