Registered Dietitian, CC Cancer Care Services

This position provides extensive oncology/wellness nutrition education and counseling to outpatient Oncology patients.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessing nutritional status of patients utilizing current scientific literature on methodology
  • Designs a therapeutic diet for individual patients
  • Evaluate the patient’s progress at appropriate intervals through the evaluation of lab reports, clinical assessment, enteral or parenteral intake and adjusts nutritional care to respond to changes and/or improvements in patient status
  • Provides follow up nutrition education and counseling as needed
  • Develops, conducts, and monitors patient care quality indicators in relation to nutrition related outcome measures
  • Organizes nutrition education for the Oncology population as a whole

Qualifications: A minimum of a four-year baccalaureate degree with American Dietetic Association approved curriculum from an accredited college or university. Licensed and Registered Dietitian in SC required. Completion of internship or qualifying experience previously approved by AND/CDR.  At least one year of experience in acute care medical facility with responsibilities for assessing and teaching normal and modified nutrition, preferably with emphasis on oncology nutrition. Innovative, self-motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Clinical Nutrition Manager
This position is responsible for planning, development, and implementation of Nutrition Services including oral, enteral, and parenteral nutrition support of inpatients and nutrition education for outpatients and employees. Responsible for departmental quality assurance monitoring and reporting.  Manages Clinical Dietitians and Dietary Assistants.  

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS: Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), registered by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (AND). Current licensure status with the Board of Dietetics for the State of South Carolina.  Strong management and organizational skills with managerial experience preferred.  Progressive, innovative individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills.  At least three years clinical dietetics experience, preferable in an acute care facility.  Master’s degree in dietetics or nutrition preferred.

The Winthrop University Department of Human Nutrition seeks an experienced leader to join its diverse community. The position offers a balance of teaching in the discipline and leadership of the department and its programs.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the senior academic and administrative officer for the department;
  • Provide strategic and operational direction for the department;
  • Manage department activities and programs, including report writing and financial management; 
  • Develop curriculum;
  • Develop course schedules in cooperation with the undergraduate, graduate, and dietetic internship program directors;
  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty members, adjunct instructors, and administrative support personnel;
  • Oversee program assessment along with reporting and reaffirmation processes for ACEND and SACSCOC accreditation;
  • Promote the program to internal and external audiences, potential students, potential donors, professional partners, and future employers; and more.

Employment conditions: The position offers a 9-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor along with a stipend for the administrative duties of the department chair. Salary commensurate with qualifications.
